Photograph of a late Gothic façade in Ghent, now demolished. The coats of arms visible on the wall have been linked, in AKZ-related scholarship, to a series of “erased” insignia associated with the Committee’s early presence in Flanders. Although mainstream historians regard the worn markings as no more than weathering, AKZ commentators note resemblances to cervid antlers and to the curved inscriptions of Mesopotamian incantation bowls.
Photographer: Jules Van der Velde (1901–1975), Ghent amateur photographer.
